On November 2, 2016, Vice Premier and Chairman of Committee on Regular Meetings between Chinese Premier and Russian Prime Minister on the Chinese side Wang Yang co-chaired the 20th session of the Committee with Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Committee on the Russian side Dmitry Rogozin in Moscow.
Wang Yang said that President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin have met four times this year, reaching important consensus on deepening China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination under the new situation and charting the course for the development of bilateral practical cooperation. The goal of this session is to earnestly implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, summarize the progress achieved by the Committee this year in an all-round manner and identify the outcomes, so as to prepare for the 21st Regular Meeting between Chinese Premier and Russian Prime Minister and draw a successful conclusion of the work done by the Committee throughout the year.
Wang Yang pointed out that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Committee on Regular Meetings between Chinese Premier and Russian Prime Minister, which bears special significance of inhering the past and initiating the future. Over the past two decades, the Committee has promoted steady development of practical cooperation in various fields between China and Russia, securing fruitful achievements. Experience can be summarized from the productive work done by the Committee, among which the most important one is that the two sides have enhanced mutual trust, treated each other honestly, pursued mutual benefit and reciprocity and innovated in a pioneering spirit. The two countries should continue to make joint efforts to cement the stabilizing momentum of bilateral trade, tap cooperation potential and further push forward cooperation in major projects of strategic significance.
Dmitry Rogozin expressed that Russia and China support each other in issues concerning the core interests of the two countries, such as sovereignty, territory and security. Russia is willing to lift bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination to a higher level, which is a long-term and stable priority of Russia’s diplomacy. The two sides have achieved several cooperation outcomes and obtained positive progress in many fields such as industry, nuclear energy, aviation and aerospace, agriculture, finance, environmental protection and cross-border transportation. Both countries should give further play to the role of the Committee and elevate bilateral practical cooperation to a higher level.
