11-YEAR-OLD DONATES ORGANS TO SAVE LIVES OF THREE PEOPLE

Eleven-year-old Li Zhibo’s last words to his mother were: “Sorry Mama, I forgot your birthday. But I’ll make it up to you.” Unfortunately, the boy was unable to make good on his promise.

Li, from Zhumadian, Henan province, lost his battle with cancer on Nov. 1. However,thanks to the empathetic child’s fervent wish – to be of true use to society – parts of him will live on in the bodies of three strangers.

According to Li’s family, he was a healthy and sensitive child for most of his too-short life.Sadly, his life was seized suddenly and cruelly by disease. In order to make Li’s dream of helping others come true, his parents decided to donate his organs. The organs were removed on Wednesday; now they will help to save the lives of three more patients in need.

SICHUAN MOTHER BURNS OVER 100,000 RMB TO ASHES

A mother in Chengdu, Sichuan province set 100,000 RMB ($14,791) of her son’s savings on fire on Oct. 31. Bank clerks spent seven hours piecing together the damaged notes,eventually rescuing 61,900 RMB after scrupulous counting. They said it would usually take two minutes to count that quantity of notes if the notes were intact. The mother, who suffers from mental illness, was sent to a hospital for treatment.

FARMER FOUNDS FOLKLORE MUSEUM TO PRESERVES TRADITIONS

YUM CHINA GETS LISTED ON NYSE

Yum China has completed its separation from Yum! Brands, and been listed on the NewYork Stock Exchange (NYSE) on Nov. 1, the firm said.

The newly minted business, which owns KFC, Pizza Hut, East Drawing and Little Sheephot pot in China, will open 20,000 new restaurants in the next 10 to 20 years, expandingnationwide, according to Yum China chief executive officer Micky Pant. Yum China willhand 3 percent of its net sales over to Yum! Brands as a franchise licensing fee.

For the next phase of its expansion, Yum China will place emphasis on Little Sheep andTaco Bell. By the year’s end, Taco Bell is expected to open its first restaurant in Shanghai,and Little Sheep will open 40 new stores.

Pant said that Yum China will focus on building its own stores rather than additionalfranchise partners in order to maximize returns.

SPECIAL ENVOY OF THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT ON SYRIAN ISSUE XIE XIAOYAN HOLDS BRIEFING FOR CHINESE AND FOREIGN MEDIA

On November 4, 2016, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Syrian Issue Xie Xiaoyan held a briefing for Chinese and foreign media at the International Press Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expounding China’s principles, stance and work on the Syrian issue by combining relevant situation of his recent visits to the UK, France, the EU, Germany and Russia and the work he has done since holding the post of Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Syrian Issue this April. He mainly introduced China’s related views and propositions on calling on the international community to maintain unity and continuously promote the political settlement process given the once again escalated Syrian situation at present.

Xie Xiaoyan also answered questions from Chinese and foreign journalists on the current Syrian situation, prospect of restarting peace talks, China’s efforts in alleviating the humanitarian crisis in Syria and other issues.

VICE FOREIGN MINISTER ZHANG YESUI MEETS WITH MINISTER OF FINANCE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND LEADER OF MILITANT SOCIALIST MOVEMENT PRAVIND JUGNAUTH OF MAURITIUS

On November 3, 2016, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui met with Pravind Jugnauth, Minister of Finance and Economic Development and Leader of the Militant Socialist Movement of Mauritius, which is the country’s ruling party.

Zhang Yesui said that since the establishment of China-Mauritius diplomatic relationship in 1972, the two countries have always upheld the principle of mutual respect, equal treatment, mutual benefit and win-win results and understood and supported each other on issues concerning respective core interests and major concerns, which sets an example for the friendly cooperation among big and small countries. China is willing to work with Mauritius to further strengthen friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation, so as to push for the comprehensive and in-depth development of bilateral relations.

Pravind Jugnauth said that Mauritius and China enjoy traditional friendship, continuous high-level mutual exchanges as well as close economic and trade contacts. The Mauritian side hopes to take this visit as an opportunity to further expand bilateral relations and cooperation in all fields.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional topics of common concern.

VICE FOREIGN MINISTER ZHANG YESUI MEETS WITH MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND COOPERATION LOUISE MUSHIKIWABO OF RWANDA

On November 4, 2016, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Louise Mushikiwabo of Rwanda, who was in China for the Munich Security Conference Core Group Meeting.

Zhang Yesui said that with joint efforts of both sides, bilateral relationship has achieved substantial development in recent years. China is willing to further expand cooperation in various fields with Rwanda, including enhancing cooperation in such areas as industrialization, agricultural modernization, infrastructure construction, peace and security under the framework of “ten major cooperation plans” proposed at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

Louise Mushikiwabo thanked China for the long-term and selfless support and assistance to Rwanda and Africa, and expressed that Rwanda is willing to conduct closer communication and coordination and strengthen cooperation in bilateral as well as international affairs with the Chinese side.

Both sides also exchanged in-depth views on international and regional topics of common interest.

WANG YI MEETS WITH ADVISER TO THE PRIME MINISTER ON NATIONAL SECURITY AND FOREIGN AFFAIRS SARTAJ AZIZ OF PAKISTAN

At noon of November 3, 2016 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who was accompanying Premier Li Keqiang to attend the 15th Meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Heads of Governments (Prime Ministers), met at the Bishkek State Guesthouse with Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz of Pakistan.
