Two passengers were found carrying two still-in-the-box Samsung Note 7 phones during a routine security check at Tianjin Binhai International Airport on Oct. 29. This is the first time passengers have been found with the phone after Chinese authorities banned the model from airplanes.
Due to many cases of spontaneous combustion, the Civil Aviation Administration of China(CAAC) released a provision on Oct. 26 stating that passengers and staff must not carry Samsung Note 7 phones onto airplanes, or stow them in luggage. The phones also can no longer be delivered by air.
The two passengers found with the phones were bound for Incheon, South Korea, where they intended to return their purchases. After learning about the provision, they agreed to leave their phones with the companion who saw them off.
